Our Story

Established in 1995, Global Financial Brokers Limited (“GFBL”) has over twenty-six years experience acting as an intermediary for companies across all sectors of our economy.

Our services focus solely on all aspects of Organisational Wellness including Group Health, Life and Pension Brokerage and Administration. GFBL specialises in the design, implementation and servicing of superior, innovative Employee Benefit solutions for our clients. With over sixty (60) employees, GFBL boasts of having the largest Employee Benefits Team in the local Insurance Brokerage industry; working in tandem with its affiliate company, Total Benefits Specialists Limited (“TBSL”).

TBSL was formed in 2010 to focus primarily on providing Employee Benefits consultancy, oversight and administrative support for our clients.  Our clients therefore benefit from the combined competencies of both GFBL and TBSL, collectively referred to as “GLOBAL”. We are a seamless extension of our client’s HR and Finance departments delivering reliable and unmatched assurance that all employee benefit needs are met.

Sandra Chin Yuen Kee

Consultant and Director

Mrs. Chin Yuen Kee is the founder of Global Financial Brokers Limited, which she started in 1994, and maintains over thirty-five (35) years’ experience in the
financial services industry. She began her working career in England and is a British trained State Registered Nurse. This experience has contributed to her
success in the development and management of Health Insurance programs. Her expertise lies in the areas of Employee Benefits and Financial Planning having
completed various training programmes in Life Insurance and Employee Benefits. Mrs. Chin Yuen Kee has served on the board of prestigious local companies such as Scotia Life Trinidad and Tobago Foundation, Heroes Foundation, La
Brea Industrial Development Corporation, the South Cancer Support Group and Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex Authority.

Michelle Alonzo

Chief Operating Officer

Michelle joined the Global Team in 2003 with over eleven (11) years experience in the insurance industry having worked at Barbados Mutual Life Assurance. There she held the position of Executive Assistant to the Executive Vice President and General Manager as well as Executive Assistant Corporate Office, gaining invaluable hands-on experience in the industry.
Michelle’s experience has allowed her to strengthen her technical expertise to the best advantage of our clients. She continuously assesses and refines operations to ensure that client expectations are met. Additionally, she partners with the client and/or Insurer to gain acceptance of Global’s innovative methodologies.

Charles Jeremy Lee

Executive Director - Client Relations

Jeremy joined the Global Team in 2007 as an Independent Financial Advisor, dealing with investments and individual insurance brokerage. He later went on
to assume greater responsibility in the company, expanding his portfolio to include managing the Business Development Department, Client Interface, the
TBSL Network Team and general mediation as advocate between client and Insurer.
Jeremy's responsibilities span Global’s Health and Life, and Pensions clients.

Management Team

Justine Carew

Manager, Financial Wellness

Justine joined the Global Team in 2018 as the Financial Wellness Manager with close to nine (9) years of sales and financial investment experience; helping clients develop customised investment portfolios to attain their specific financial goals. Prior to joining Global, Justine spent some of her formidable years at Scotia Bank of Trinidad and Tobago, TRINRE and JMMB Bank. This experience set the foundation for her pursuit within the Insurance and Financial Industries.

At Global, Justine is responsible for:

• Conducting Financial Wellness sessions to groups of employees, both onshore and offshore, educating them on the requirements to achieve financial wellness.
• Conducting financial planning sessions with individual clients to assist them in attaining their retirement and other financial goals.
• Researching and analysing all investment opportunities presented to Financial Wellness clients, selecting appropriate investments that align with their objectives and their plans for retirement.
• Assisting clients in calculating and assessing refinancing options for their debt.

Johann Salina

Manager, Health & Life Administration

Prior to joining the Global Team in 2015, Johann gained eight (8) years experience in Employee Benefits administration at Agostini, Cardea and RMS
Brokerage. At Global, Johann manages the Health & Life Administration Department which entails the management of three (3) teams and their daily
portfolios, while ensuring client satisfaction is met and in line with our service agreements. He also manages the designing and building of client benefit plans on Global's proprietary database.

Lisa Chin Shue

Manager, Pensions

Lisa joined Global in 2020 as the Manager, Pensions with close to twenty (20) years' experience in administration of Group Pension Plans. Prior to working at Global, Lisa worked at the Petroleum Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (Petrotrin) as a Senior Human Resource Analyst specialising in Pension and Employee Benefits.

At Global, Lisa is responsible for:

• Providing expert advice, information, financial and statistical data to employers and clients to enable fully informed decisions on their pension plans
• Overall management of the Group Pension Plans portfolio; and
• Designing and implementing systems and procedures to reduce process bottlenecks

Michelle Wallace

Manager, Accounts

Michelle has over twenty-five (25) years of experience in Finance, Accounting and Management. She has a wealth of knowledge in Business and Administration, Strategic and Tactical Planning, Re-engineering Processes, Change Management, Project Management, and Developmental Education. Michelle was the Finance Manager at COPOS Credit Union (Trinidad and Tobago) for thirteen (13) years and sat on its Senior Management Team. She was instrumental in stabilising the finances and developing and implementing best practices, which saw her credit union winning national awards for the Most Improved Financial Performance two (2) years in a row.

During her tenure at COPOS, she was admitted a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and earned the local accounting designation of Cartered Accountant (CA).

At Global, Michelle’s core functions include:

• Preparing annual financial statements for both GFBL and TBSL, for audit purposes
• Preparing quarterly management accounts for both GFBL and TBSL, including balance sheet reconciliations and variance commentary
• Preparing annual budgets for each department and measuring performance against same quarterly
• Assessing the sustainability of potential company investments; and
• Advising on strategic and business planning.

Sharaz Gordon

Manager, IT Administration

Prior to joining the Global Team in 2012 as the IT Administrator, Sharaz worked at the Fast Freight Group and the HADCO Group of Companies as a Senior Customs Brokerage Consultant. During this time he found his passion in IT and went on to pursue a career in that field, culminating in his role of managing and operating all of Global’s computer systems.

At Global, Sharaz is responsible for:

• Running system audits to ensure the optimal security of the network.
• Providing user requirement and system specification to the database and web developers involved in the creation of Global’s Client Online Portal (“Javelin”)
• Maintaining Javelin and handling external user queries from all clients.
• Assisting the Database Administrator with day to day running of Global’s claims management system.
• Upgrading hardware and software that is required on the network

Kerry Sahadeo

Manager, HR Administration

Kerry is a long-standing member of the Global Team, having previously worked for the Company from 2000 to 2002. She rejoined the Company in 2013 as Executive Assistant to the Chairman and CEO and was later promoted to Human Resource Administrator in 2018. In June 2020, Kerry was promoted to Manager, HR Administration.

At Global, Kerry’s core functions include:

• Interviewing and Onboarding new employees
• Collaborating with managers regarding recruitment for new job positions in the Company and conducting preliminary screening on all applicants
• Co-ordinating and participating in staff appraisals alongside department heads and employees; and
• Providing support and assistance to the Management Team on handling and resolving HR issues

Karinna - Marie Milford

Manager, Network Administration

Karinna joined the Global Team in 2013 as a Data Entry Assistant in the Health & Life Administration department. Through her natural knack for the Insurance industry, and her tenacity, Karinna was promoted to Supervisor in 2017, where she focused primarily on claims management. In June 2020, Karinna moved to the Network Coordination Department as their Manager of Network Administration.

At Global, Karinna is responsible for:

• Managing the day to day operations of the Network Administration Department
• Reviewing of the Network Administration Department Policies and Procedures
• Reviewing and Analysing Claims
• Investigating Claim Errors
